Our Turkey on Turkey Day!

Lots of things to be thankful for this year... my wonderful husband and beautiful little girl, our silly pets, my awesome family and extended family including my in-laws, brother in-laws, pet in-laws, our house, Chris's job, a 4 door car .... the list could go on forever. The only thing missing this year was my sweet Granny who passed in Feburary. Not a day goes by where I don't think of her and miss her terribly. I was realizing that just about every room in our house has a little touch of Granny in it. Thanksgiving without her was hard this year - especially when we were taking our traditional family photo... there was a empty spot where Granny should have been. The only thing that made it a little easier was that Anna was there to help fill the void.

We decided to have a "central location" for Thanksgiving this year and Caron and Michel were nice enough to offer up their house as that central location! Phil and Marcia came down from NC, Uncle Jim and Aunt Bev came from SC, Mom and Dad came from Loganville and we came from Newnan and met at Caron and Michaels house in Lavonia GA (right on the SC/GA border!) It worked out pretty good for everyone (with the exception of the HORRIBLE holiday traffic).

Chris, Anna, Piper and I went up on Tues to make the drive easier. Caron and I did a LOT of cleaning and cooking while Allie and Wyatt entertained Anna and Chris and Michael played golf. Everyone else came on Wed for Thanksgiving lunch. It was such a nice visit with everyone and great time to celebrate the holiday.

We had a feast of Honey Baked Ham, homemade mac and cheese, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, Granny's cranberry salad, yeast rolls and then pumpkin pie mouse and my pecan pie for dessert. All of our favorite foods!!!

Today we woke up and watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, ate left over ham on biscuits, and started looking through the newspaper ads for Christmas gifts. I think this year we may actually get our shopping done early!!!

I may attempt to brave the holiday crowds tomorrow if Chris will watch Anna - but at least this year I wont be one of the crazies sitting outside in the cold waiting in line for a good deal... again.

A few photos...

Chris and his dad discussing golf swings

but most are just pics of Anna being passed around.

It started with a little nap with D-Daddy...
