Standing and Bye Bye video

Anna has been pulling up on EVERYTHING the past few days. Before she was mostly pulling up on her knees and only a couple of times to her feet, but now there is no stopping her. She pulls up to standing on everything she can. The ottoman, fireplace, her toys... and just found her standing in her crib (which is the first place she ever pulled to standing - but it wasn't a regular thing). She will let go to clap and wave if she's leaning up against something. She will even "cruise" down the sofa and ottoman if there is something at the opposite end she wants... it takes her a while, but she eventually gets there.

Here is a little video of her after she pulled up on the ottoman and saying and waving "bye bye". I can't believe how fast she is growing!!!

Anna loves banana chunks

This morning I cut up some banana chunks for AC. I've given them to her in the past but she just kinda smushed them and threw them on the floor. This time I actually put one in her mouth and as soon as I did it was like OH MY GOSH WHAT IS THIS PIECE OF HEAVEN!!!

Which is kinda funny because she isn't really crazy about bananas in a jar... maybe she just likes to mash them herself in her mouth ;)

Anyway - she couldn't get enough... so cute! It's a little hard for her to pick them up since they slide around, but she does pretty well.

Also - she has been copying us like crazy. If we pat the sofa, she will pat the sofa.. she mimics words we say.. like if we say "can I have it?" she will hand it to us and we say "thank you!" and she will say "ta ta". We will start smacking our lips and make kissy like noises and she copies us. She has also started saying "No no no" and will shake her finger at us... hmmm not sure about this one.... mostly she will just do it when we say No No to her when she is doing something we don't want her to... but today Amber was trying to feed her and she pointed her finger, shook it and said "NO NO NO". We about DIED laughing!!!

Video of her pointing (one of her favorite things to do) copying my kissy/smacking noises and eating banana chunks.

AMBER IS HERE!!

In the 4th grade our teacher "made" us have penpals. No - not like emailing... (remember - this was in 1991 - before email) like real penpals... that you actually had to WRITE letters to, mail, and then wait for a response...

I can remember 3 of them - but I think we had a few more. One was from California, one was from England and one was from Australia. Yes, call it lame, but I can actually say that Amber and I (the Australian pen pal) became "friends" instantly through mail. She was always so good at writing letters back to me, sending pictures, Australian currency and little gifts. All the letters would get sent to the school and then distributed to us in class - and I can honestly say that I was one of the few that continued to get mail. The other two quit writing after a couple of letters... but I kept getting mail from Amber long after the "assignment" was over.

Skip forward 19 years and we are still in touch (so much easier now that we are older, have email and have facebook) We made it through writing letters by hand and still kept in touch all these years!! Back in 2001(ish) Amber was on her "world tour" and came to the US! She had the chance to stay with us for about 2 weeks and it was AWESOME!!! She is such a beautiful amazing person and I just love her dearly!!!!

Since her visit in 2001 we've had the opportunity to see each other on two other occasions and this week we were graced with her presence again ;) She was in the US for work and re-routed her trip to include a visit to Newnan, GA.

Of course we had to pick her up in style (compliments of Collins Limo and Transport) so we picked her up in a white limo! They came to our house to pick up Chris, AC and me - and then off to the airport. When we got there we told her we had to wait for someone to pick us up... she asked "why - was it just easier?" and we kinda made up an answer about Chris needing to help her with her luggage.... anyway- when we walked up to the limo she about died. She was cracking up that we would do that for her. I wish I had it on camera - it was priceless.

Mom and Dad showed up later that day (because they love Amber and couldn't get away without seeing her!). We all had a nice visit, mom and dad left, we watched American Idol and then hit the hay.

I get her for 2 more days and then she has to head back to New York. Anna took to her right away (although we think its because she's infatuated with Amber's jewelry haha) and Anna even had presents from Amber! Two ADORABLE outfits - one from Australia, one from New York. No, you can't see them yet - they are both waiting on a custom photoshoot!!!!

I still think it's amazing we have been in touch this long. She is one of my oldest and dearest friends and I'm so lucky to have her come visit us. Now we just need to make up for all her visits here by planning a trip to Australia!!!!

Our driver installing AC's carseat :)

I think she liked riding forward AND having company in the back seat with her!

Testing 123...

I busted out a new(er) version of photoshop - HOPING I can fix the color profile problem... lets see if this works.....
and it doesnt. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

In the meantime enjoy a photo of the butterbean waiting to go to the beach... and pardon her greenish skin ;)

Babyproofing time...

We are 1 day shy of AC's 10month birthday - and nope - no "official" crawling yet. She scoots/army crawls like a mad woman and will get up on all 4s and rock and take a few crawl like motions - but will flatten out and take off scooting. She also uses a method of sitting, to crawl position, to flat, to scoot, to sit... then repeat to move about the room. It's pretty funny to watch actually... maybe I need a video of that.

HOWEVER.... the child is a climber. She has been pulling up on anything she can which means it's time to really start baby proofing. (probably should have started when she started scooting, but that's besides the point ;) ). Today we were playing on the floor and she went over to the fireplace which I have been trying SO HARD to keep her away from - guess it's the perfect height to be tempting. Anyway, I had it padded pretty well so I decided to just watch her and see what she would do. Well.. it started off just getting on her knees and touching stuff, then to her legs... then up went one leg and the little booger was trying to climb up the fireplace!

So naturally I did what any good mother would do... grab my camera in case she was successful. And she was. And I got a pic ;) But yes, I quickly took her off the fireplace and "reset" her.

Lookin a little guilty

In food news: we have introduced her to chicken, turkey and beef. She is not crazy about them - but I've found she will eat anything if I mix it with carrots. She also had pumpkin which was a big win.

She has also started yelling at me... if I take something away from her she will look at me and yell. Not like a cry - but almost like she is saying "hey lady, gimme that back". This happens a lot when I take the laptop away from her.

Still no teeth...

She has been "talking" a LOT lately - and mimicking us. If we say a word she will do a pretty good job at copying our sound... but it's not consistent yet. She is still saying "bye bye" and waves all the time now (just not when I ask her to in front of people... she waits until they actually leave or we leave). And she has also been pointing at EVERYTHING. Yes I know it's "rude" to point - but I'm encouraging it. She will point to her food or water or to a toy... or the lights and fans at BRU... pretty much anything. I think it's cute :)

Her hair is getting longer and is still sometimes strawberry blond and sometimes just blond. (I swear I thought blond had an "e" at the end... but firefox is telling me no.

Hmm... can't think of anything else spectacular she has done - who am I kidding.... everything she does is AWESOME ;) I have a lot of little videos of her just being her that I need to upload. Maybe I'll do that during her nap...

That pretty much catches up on everything... so her 10month post tomorrow may just be pics ;) We are so proud of our little girl - and just can't believe how fast time is going by! I'm trying to savor every little moment, every milestone, every cute face and sweet word.... she is seriously the best little girl in the world!!!!!

ASA Photo of the Week

After much *encouragement* from me :) Chris submitted his photo of him and Anna at ASA to the www.ourasa.com website. It's the company website for checking schedules, vacations, forums, announcements, news... etc. Anyway - Chris submitted it and guess what - THEY SELECTED IT as photo of the week!!!

Chris caught a lot of flack from his friends (they are just jealous hehe) but nonetheless, they made it and I think it's totally cute!!

Here are some screen shots:

Bye Bye...

No - I'm not going anywhere... that's what AC has been saying the past week when we go to bed or go out to the car. She will wave and say "bye bye". Sometimes at night when I say "night night" it will come out as "mi mi"... but most of the time when we go to the car and I'm putting her in her car seat she will wave and say Bye Bye!!! Soo stinkin cute! She will also wave the entire trek up the stairs when I'm taking her upstairs to bed saying bye bye... although sometimes she just waves and cries hehe.

I need to get it on video - but she's been doing it so much lately I just needed to post before I forgot when it became "official" ;)

It's just amazing how much she picks up on. She will mimic us in a lot of stuff we do. If we slap the floor, she will slap the floor... if we rub our leg, she will rub our leg.... if we bounce, she bounces.... if we say something - she tries so hard to copy us. At the beach everytime we asked her to hand us something she would put it in our hands and we would say THANK YOU and she would say "ta ta".

Yes, our daughter is brilliant... we know it. I attribute it to the brain cd that Philip gave to her for Christmas ;)

Oh - and more 9 month pics coming soon.

Sneak Peek: 9 month pics

We took some pics of AC yesterday for her 9 month photos. It was raining outside so we were limited on outdoor stuff... got a few shots before it started raining too hard. Here is a little sneak peek:

Happy Girl

**Warning - these photos look horribly greenish/grayish.... apparently the web can't hold a certain color profile... ugh. Sorry!!**

We took AC outside to watch daddy chip golf balls in the front yard... and although I swear I had NO intentions of a photoshoot... she just looked so darn cute I had to go grab my camera.

Brought it outside and guess what.. battery was dead (wonder why??)... so I went in to grab the point and shoot (still the old one... haven't gotten the new one yet) and came out to see Chris and AC talking golf. I mean - this just SCREAMED shoot me!!!

I'm so lucky!!! (no Chris wasn't posing, he was actually sitting like this talking to AC and I said "smile" - but I did make him stay like this for a few pics)

Anyway - it was all over after that. I started clicking away. Our neighbor JoAnn came over to see what was going on and AC just LIT UP!!! She was just elated to see JoAnn! I swear - she made faces like this at her the whole time - so again- I started shooting away!

Here are a few other cute ones. Got to go to bed - I may add more later as I finish going through all 181+ of them (yes, 131 on the big camera and 50 on the little camera...)

And as a little bonus... a video of Anna TRYING to crawl. Nope - we haven't gotten the official crawl down yet, but she's pulling up on stuff and she will get on her hands and knees and take a few "crawl" movements until she realizes she's more efficient at scooting hahaha.

9 month checkup

Anna went for her 9 month check up today. I felt so bad because we had to wake her up in the middle of her nap. She was ZONKED since she missed her morning nap (she didn't wake up till 10am today though!) and we went running (well, she went riding haha)... but still... the child does NOT like to be woken up from her nap!

Anyway - we got there and she was happy as a clam. She was waving and clapping.... even said ta-ga, ta-ga, ta-ga to Dr. Carter after he said it to her (we told him she would mimic him if he said it). We thought this would be easy... but as SOON as the stethoscope hit her back, she SCREAMED!!! And didn't really stop for the nose, ear, or leg check. Finally I just had to pick her up and she immediately stopped. I have GOT to do something about her clingy-ness... but at the same time it's hard not to be flattered ;)

Her stats were:
Weight: 17lbs 4oz (23% !! We were kinda shocked, but he said that it just happens the more active they get - plus they start leveling off at 6 months. He didn't seem concerned at all - I still just hope this is a sign of genetics... come on Chris genes - pull through!!!!)

Height: 29" (92% - More Chris genes??? I'm sooooooooo hopeful)
Head: 44cm (52% - her head is getting bigger! lol)

He said everything looked great. She's hitting all of her milestones on time or early (except for crawling which he said she still has time on.... but she is SOOO close! She will take one or two crawl movements and then drop and take off scooting) He even said we can start introducing dairy and eggs if we wanted. We've already given her yogurt which was mixed with apples and she seemed to like it.

Once the doctor visit was over it was time for the shot. She needed her last IPV (polio) vaccine that she missed a few months back and she was still kinda upset from Dr. Carter that I was not looking forward to the vaccine - but she did FANTASTIC!! She laid down, got the shot and I put the paci in her mouth and not a tear!! I think she just didn't like the cold stethoscope (do they make stethoscope warmers??) and the fact that I just kinda sat down and left her up there with him.

Overall - it was a great visit. He didn't mention anything about her eye alignment this time so he either didnt notice anything, or just didn't want to go there with us hahaha. I still don't see anything so we are leaving it alone.

I haven't had a food recap lately, so here are all the foods AC has had so far.
apples, pears, apricots, raspberries, blueberries, bananas, plums, prunes, peaches, winter squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, spinach (had this yesterday and seemed to like it!), potatoes, green beans, peas, brown rice, lentils, ... I feel like I'm missing something.

We are going to start giving her meats and more finger foods this week. I'll keep you posted on that!

Happy Mother's Day

To my Mom, my Mother In Law, my Sister.... and ME!!! This year is my very first Mother's Day (that really counts anyway even though I think Chris got me a card and present last year) and it has been great! (more on this later)

Right now I would like to thank my mom for being the greatest mom in the world! You have taught me so many valuable life lessons, so many awesome skills and have been an excellent role model and best friend. Thank you for all that you do for me (back then and now), given me, made me, helped me with, I love you so much and hope to be as good of a mom as you!!

And to my fantastic mother in law - I can't even begin to say how much it means to have been married into such a wonderful family. You have proven wrong all the "mother in law stereotypes" and continue to bend over backwards for Chris and I (and now Anna!). You have raised such an amazing son and obviously raised him right into being the perfect husband and father. I am so honored to be a part of your family and I love you very much!

Then to you sis... for constantly saying "just you wait" and "welcome to motherhood"... for all the times you have laughed when I was having contractions during childbirth because you felt my pain... when you sympathized when I was having a mom-moment.... and for giving me a laugh with all of yours. I love you sis - thanks for being a great mom to your kids and a great sis to me!

Now about me and MY mother's day.....

I woke up to Chris and AC singing me a very special Mother's Day song (if you know Chris you will know that it was made up off the top of his head) that was actually pretty good! Usually Chris's songs are one or two lines, this one had about 6 or 7!! What a treat! ;)

Unfortunately, we left the house in kinda a mess before we left for the beach, so my lazy mother's day quickly turned into folding 5 loads of laundry and washing/drying 2 more, washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen and sweeping the bathroom. No - Chris wasn't MAKING me clean, meanwhile he was sweeping/vacuuming the house and mowing the lawn... it's life - it just had to be done!

However, while we were in the midst of cleaning, he said "Piper wanted me to bring this to you" and put a card on the mantle... which I wasn't allowed to open. Then about an hour later he brought out another card and said "The cats wanted me to bring this to you" and put it next to the one on the mantle.. again - couldn't open it. Still waiting...

While we were cleaning - AC went down for a nap and when she woke up - this is what I got to see.... I mean seriously - could bed head and sleepy faces possibly look any cuter???? How did I get so lucky with such a happy pretty little angel? I'm the luckiest mom in the world!!!

AC got up and we ate lunch then Chris went grocery shopping for me (that right there is a HUGE present), came home and started washing my car!!! Ugh, LOVE this Mother's Day thing!!!

Tonight we are eating 2lbs of shrimp we brought home from the beach and then Chris is taking me to get my mother's day present... A NEW POINT AND SHOOT CAMERA!!!!!!!!!!!! I've had this one for about 4 years and it's nice to have a small camera to toss in the diaper bag and keep with me. Our "big camera" (the DSLR) is just too big to tote around. Anyway - I CONSTANTLY curse our stupid point and shoot camera because it NEVER wants to focus... I miss so many cute moments because the darn thing wont focus! I think even if it wasn't Mother's Day Chris would get me one just so he wont have to hear me complain when I'm taking pictures... I feel like Kate Gosslin and her stupid camera issues (those that watched the show back when it was normal would understand this). Bottom line, I'm getting a new tote bag camera and I'm so excited I almost cried when he told me.... it's the little things in life. ;)

Right now I hear my little love calling me... Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers out there!!

----------

Ok - back to finish the post :) I went for a little Mother's Day run with the bean then came home to a wonderful shrimp dinner and 2 more cards on the mantle!! We ate and then Chris brought out my FAVORITE cake - one with cream cheese frosting... this one happened to be carrot cake (yum!!!!!!!) but I swear, you could smear cream cheese on Limburger cheese and I'd eat it. I got to open the cards and they were the cutest things in the world. Each one had a very sweet personal (and hilarious) message from the pets, from my wonderful husband, and from my sweet Anna. Chris even gave Anna a marker to sign her card to me - I just love it!!

Today was such a great day - I feel so loved - but then again, Chris does a great job of making me feel loved and appreciated every day. Today was definitely extra special, but I feel like every day is mother's day.

Last day at the beach

Today is our last day at the beach... always so sad but we had an amazing week!!!
Here are a couple of pics from our last beach day:

Playing frisbee with Piper

Pretty girl chillin on the beach

Feeding the gulls

I put water in the bucket (novel idea right?) so she was checking it out

AC mixing up a seashell and water potion

Oh look! She's crawling!! (not!)

I had a HORRIBLE time trying to get the flash bright enough... I don't know what I was doing wrong.... we all turned out pretty dark and this was my best attempt at lightning the photo...

It's so neat to think how this house has seen Chris as a single guy, then "talking" to me... dating, engaged, married, and now a dad!! Every year I try to take a balcony picture.... I can't seem to find 2 years worth of pics, but here are a few from years past.

This year:

Day 6 at the Beach

Didn't take too many pics today.... it POURED down rain this morning so we went to Boss Oyster for about 5 dozen oysters :) When we got back we enjoyed being inside and then the sun came out - and it was BRIGHT. Almost like it never rained!!!

Just a couple of pics today.... We sat AC on the edge of the water and let the waves come up and touch her feet. She loved it :)

Again - sorry for the color. I don't know why I keep apologizing - it just annoys the steam out of me that the web can't hold a color profile.

She found a piece of seaweed and was very proud of it.

Day 5 at the Beach

Day 5 at the beach... Um,.... and we played in the sand... dang I wish I had blogged each day we were down there instead of waiting until we got home. Oh well - enjoy the adorable pics :)

She loves to pose!

LOVE these next pics.... Can't decide which one I like best - and there are actually about 10 more of them. I want to frame them all.
